Restore ddf files after 12/15/07 Update
05/07/08 at 14:42:47

I'm running DBA Classis v.2004.1  When I program Crystal Reports and point to the file I want through file.ddf, it is looking in the Default folder rather than the top level dbamfg folder.  The default folder now holds data files rather than what looked like place holders or format files.

I thnk we screwed up on the installation and in step #5 we clicked "force update" when we probably shouldn't have.  Do we need to restore our ddf's to point them to the top level folder.  IS this possible.

Thanks,

Marianne

The standard configuration for DBA is to have the *.B data files in the DBAMFG\DEFAULT subfolder.  Some older installations had the *.B files in the main DBAMFG folder all intermixed with the program files but that is not good practice and has caused problems with updates so the recent updates prompt you to move the B files to the DEFAULT subfolder to clean this up.  If your real data *.B files are in fact in the main DBAMFG folder, I suggest you move them but you also have to change the data dictionary to know where to point.  Email me for instructions if you want to move them manually.

Wherever your data files actually reside, if you run ODBCDDF at UT-A, it will generate a set of DDF files in the same folder as the data.
