Domain Migration - FQDN change
05/08/08 at 11:18:13

I have a question regarding migrating the pervasive sql / dba server to a new domain.  From another post referrring to swapping server names I have a pretty good feeling that this will work.

My question is:
Will changing the FQDN affect the operation, licensing, or connectivity of the DBA classic system on PSQL2000?

Some points:
The user permissions will be SID "walked" over to the new domain.
IP address will not change and drive mapping will stay the same.
Everything that I see during a client install references either the short name or the IP address of the server.

With our domain migration plan, the only change that should be apparent to anyone is the new FQDN.

We switched servers a couple of times back when we used an NT4 server and it was never a problem. I'm pretty sure that it connects and validates based on IP address.
