PS-E doesn't show all items
05/23/08 at 07:23:13

When I print a Evo Menu Access by User report, the report does not show all the menu items to which the user has access.  The one thing I see missing on all the reports is any access to AR, for which all these particular users have (they're in Accounting).  If I do the report Menu Access by Program, I do see their names listed when I run it, for example, for bkara.run.

We're trying to audit by user what each person has assigned.  I need a complete report.  Any fixes?

Thanks,

Val

AR is, I think, normally in Sales unless you put it in Accounting instead.  Are you looking in the right place on their list?  The list by user can be hard to read because of the way it lists sub-menu items....

I would like to see this report fixed as well.  I have an example PS-E report that shows a user with a total of 3 Evo transactions.  If I review his profile using TAS-G or PS-G it shows access to over 20 different transactions.

PS-E only works if you have the menu's set up as the default DBA menus were set.. I know, bad code.. I need to go and fix it one day.. but more important things keep getting in the way, like real bug fixes...

It was a custom job for someone that just did not work well, and they never got back to me.

total bummer, man undecided  Now I'll have to sit at each computer and go menu option by menu option with the manager and review it......it would have been a real timesaver to give them the report and have them review it and submit changes back to me......

One thing I have done, admittedly using the by user report which I will have to revisit, is to dump the ADMIN menu into an excel spreadsheet and then create a menu for each user with that.  Then it is a matter of using the menu access program to modify each user.  I was doing this to see who had new programs and who still had old programs (I have practically a different menu for every user!).

When we started using Evo, I set up some job-centric menus. When I add a new use I copy them from the menu that is close to what they need and then add programs I know they need. That gets them started. Usually within a couple of weeks I get requests to add more menu items that the person needs. By using this minimalistic approach I give each user only what they really need to do their job. To make sure that everyone is using the most up-to-date version of a program I use the change all function when I roll out a new version. Once in awhile a user will hate the update and want to go backward. I can do that onesie, twosie.

I really wish that this PS-E report was accurate.   I truly need to have a record of people having access to Evo along with each menu transaction that they have privileges to.  There are 2 people who can modify those privileges in our company and we are at separate physical locations.  Sometimes the "master log" we keep manually does not get updated.  When we are audited, if the auditor finds even one employee that has different access than indicated, we usually have to prove that everyone on this list is not wrong.

Can anyone confirm that the files containing the data in this report is or should come from the tables - BKPSUSER and BKSLEVEL?  It looks to me like those should be the files, but I cannot see a "key" field that links the tables together.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

PS-E uses the login ID from BKPSUSER but nothing in Evo uses the security in BKSLEVEL.  All the Evo Menu Access is stored in BKMENUSU.* which is a set of interrelated CodeBase files.
