Bar code showing incorrect part #
08/29/08 at 07:28:43

Here's a weird one--one bar code on a traveler RTM, when scanned, shows an incorrect part #.  The text shows as ABCD#Q-123XA, but when you scan the bar code it shows as ABCDDQ-123XA.  The part looks fine in inventory, and I double-checked what was on the BOM since it appears on the RTM the barcode may be pulled from the wbom.compcode, but it looks fine, too.  All the other parts on the traveler show up correctly when scanned, it's just this one part.

Where else can I look to find why this is scanning incorrectly?

Thanks,

Val

Val,

The barcodes that Evo prints are code 39.

The 43 character set includes the following:

1234567890ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ - . $ / + % SPACE

# is not one of them.  So you either need to edit the RTM and change the barcode type to one that supports the # or change the part number.

ahhhhh......!  We scan code 39.  I guess we will have to change the part number. That's interesting!  Never knew that.   Thanks, Allen!
