"M" type parts show no allocation for the "A" part
09/24/08 at 14:00:30

We use "A" type parts to manufacture parts in house such as metal brackets
When we send these out for plating we create a new part number using a type "M" part number

The problem we have is that the allocation is only on the M type part and shows no allocation for the shope made type A part.  The work order is created for the type A but the part is not allocated and therefore does not show as a workorder shortage for the subassembly it is need for.
Our A type part gets relieved from inventory when the PO for the M is received
The upper level assembly requires the finish part and shows part shortage on the finished part but no shortage or allocations on the raw part...which I need to see

Does anyone have this problem?  Should we be using tpye "T" for these type of parts?
Apprecaite any and all input - THANKS
Regards
Debra

Those A type parts, being a component of the M type part will show up in the PO field as a - negative planned qty, not in the Allocations.
