Entering GL budgets in AM-C
11/25/08 at 20:30:33

It has been raised in this forum before  about the lenthy process of entering GL budgets and I think it's about time we vote for a change!  A system that would allow us to enter budgets in annual amounts, that are then automatically divided by 12 to get the monthly amounts, would be very handy for most GL expense accounts.  Obviously not all GL expense budgets are divided evenly, so there would need to be an option to edit as well.  Please help the accountants... vote yes!

The programmers will shoot me but all you accountants will probably be happier.  If we are going to go there at all, how about this....

New program to Enter Budget

Prompt for range of accounts (so you can do different kinds of accounts different ways)
Select one of the following methods to determine the budget for the range of accounts selected
1.  Use 1 year Past amounts (assumes you would be entering the budget for the new year shortly after running AM-B) multiplied by X (use a factor of 1 to assume the same but use a different factor to anticipate changes.  This method would simply take all of the 1 year past values by month, multiply by the factor and save as budget.
2.  Enter Annual value and divide by 12.  This method would prompt for an annual amount for each account in the range and divide by 12 and save to each month.
3.  Suggestions?????  Or do these 2 pretty much cover it?

AM-C and GL-A would still allow manual editing month by month.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!   Cheesy

It is done.  Merry Christmas to all the accountants out there!!  You can download from www.istechsupport.com/dl/budget.zip and run from UT-A, program ISAMQ or add ISAMQ.RUN to your Evo menu.  It prompts for a range of accounts and departments, then you have a choice of 1 year past and a multiplier, or an annual amount to be distributed equally.  If you choose the annual amount, then for each account within the range you will be prompted for the amount.  If you need the budget to be a credit balance (such as income accounts) then you need to enter a negative number.

This program can be run on any IS Tech update version 2/2007 or later in either DBA Classic or Evo-ERP but if you are not yet on the latest (12/21/08) update, you need to contact me for an updated license file or you will get a message indicating "You have not renewed your IS Tech Support license".
