First day w/ EVO, question on work order defaults
02/02/09 at 08:17:20

Hello, I've been lurking and reading on this forum for about 2 months while waiting for EVO to be installed and activated.  I've been using Classic for about 8 years and then my company decided to try Next-Gen.  I didn't like NG and suggested that we try EVO and this will be our first full day using it.  I'm trying to find the setting that will allow me to see only open work orders in the look up screen in WO-A.
Classic always asked if I wanted to see only open work orders and I can't find this feature in EVO.  Thank you.

there are two ways to do this. 1) in SD-Q there is a setting in Manufacturing,Work Orders,Settings  "Show Open or Open/Closed WO in WOA (O/B)  O shows open only and B shows both open and closed.

2) there is a little yellow door icon at the top of the lookup screen this allows you to toggle between Open only and Open and Closed.

Hope that helps. (this is assuming you are using the latest Evo and running the GUI WOA (T7WOA)

Thank you for the quick reply.  I've already tried the "show open/closed orders" button on the look up screen.  It caused a lock up and eventually a "not responding" message in task manager.  I just tried the SD-Q suggestion but got a message that said "invalid argument to time decode".  We do have the latest and greatest version of EVO.

I would also STRONGLY suggest you use SM-J-B and Archive old closed work orders to speed up the filtering.

I have sent an e-mail to Robert Miller at Oakpointe to see if they already did the archiving last week when EVO was installed.  If not I'll try your suggestion.  Thank you.

Update on seeing only the open work orders.  I tried using the "show open/closed orders" button on the lookup screen in WO-A again.  After a couple of minutes it worked.   I just need to find out how to get the default set in SD-Q.  I still get an error message when trying to access SD-Q.

We are working on that, we have a handful of users who are getting the Time Argument error when starting the SD-Q program. We have talked to the developer of the language, and we are awaiting their response.

As for the speed, Like Lynn said Archive old WO's and it will speed things up.

Ok, thanks for the update.  I'll probably go ahead and run SM-J-B right before I leave to go home tonight.  Let me know if you find anything out about SD-Q.  Thanks again.
