WO-A T6 vs T7 program
02/04/09 at 06:22:41

What are the advantages to T7 entry screen in Work Orders if any? Are there added features that I don't see? we use the DBA style screen and it looks the same as t6 screens.

In IN-B, the T7 screens brought in pricing which was an advantage, but I don't see the differences in WO-A.

I just looked again and I see a links button. That's a good feature, anything else we can do with the new program?

T7 vrs. BK   Well first off going forward we will not be adding anything new to BK stuff if a T7 version exists. If there was a BK then a T6 and now a T7, for example INA, we will do bug fixes to BK, we abandon T6 and fix and move forward with T7.   As for what else is new in T7WOA we have added some new extra dates, and Alerts for the WO, the Item, and the Customer.

OK, I see the new ADD DATES button. Is there documentation on the use of the dates and where the show up? I don't really know what "show" would be used for. I didn't see anything in the regular help files.

Allen

One problem I have with T7WOA is that if I enter a bad location, it does not allow me to fix it. I am stuck in the item field with no escape route except to exit the program. In T6 after entering the bad location, it kicks me into the location field where I can delete it and continue.

I had asked years ago for an "option" not to check location in this program, because we use the field to track location of the work order (the lot of parts on the work order) in our facility and not locations where inventory items might be stored (more like bin locations for a work order). I know this is not how the program is intended, but at the time it seemed like the only way to find a particular lot. Being a manufacturing job shop with 2-3 day turnaround, there are no bin locations for the items, as the jobs in the building this week are completely different than the jobs last week even if they are the same part numbers, and are in a different receiving "bin location".

So having illegal locations is the norm here and we can save the work order with the illegal location as long as we don't get locked in the item field. I'm stuck using T6WOA for now.

How about adding a setting in default settings to allow or not allow the location check? That would be a big help.

If the Location of a work order is invalid then all the transactions and inventory movement associated with the work order will also be invalid.  You have never been able to save a work order with an invalid location even the BKWOA version so I am not sure what you are doing with it.
