Absence of Average and last cost field data
02/27/09 at 12:30:09

Hello.  We have a couple of relatively new items that have built quantities through the Work Order process and also have shipments to customers.  The standard cost field is filled out but the avg and last cost fields are $0.  Any ideas why that would be this way?

Perhaps your last transaction was at zero?

I think you need to 'Roll-Up" the cost on the bill of materials before issuing materials. This should give you a last and average cost. I don't know if it will populate those fields until you have another inventory transaction--after doing the "roll-up".

If the WO-I Finished Production entry was made without proper costing (perhaps at standard before there was a standard defined) then the parts made would have gone into stock at $0 which in turn would result in shipment transactions at $0.  If the finished parts came out of the work order at $0, then the actual costs put into the work order would come out as WIP Variance whenthe WO is closed.
