FO-G?

Is FO-G supposed to be a T7 version of FO-A (Enter Features and Options)?  It doesn't seem to do anything.

FO-G is a new Features and Options program.

I was going to write this all out but it would take to long so here is a video...  Enjoy

Looked at the video, but got no audio.  Outside of being able to quickly convert F&0 items over to SO and WO, I'm not sure what the advantages are.  The search feature does not appear to work, and it doesn't appear to allow you to edit exsisting F&O items.
What would be nice would be to turn on the option code field so that it was displayed during SO entry, or maybe adding those new nifty EVO notes so that you could have a detail/explanation note when entering F&O items.

This is a new way to take a BOM set up in FO-A or BM-A with Features and Options and explode through the levels and make the selections of the features and then convert the configured item to a number of different outputs - SO, Quote, WO, PO etc.  It also offers more flexibility in the construction of the BOM and the controls as compared to the old DBA Classic version.

From the Dallas class handout on the topic...

DBA Classic Features & Options are limited to 9 levels in the BOM and 250 choices at each Node.  The Choice must reside in the top level of the Bill of Materials and option selection is only available for Sales Orders and Sales Quotes.

Evo-ERP has an Options Configurator that is based on the same concept of node (choice) points in the Bill of Materials but it supports up to 35 total levels and an unlimited number of choices at each level.  It also allows a choice to be deep in a lower level of the Bill of Materials if that is in fact where the chosen item is assembled.  Once a given configuration has been defined, it can be converted to a Sales Quote, Sales Order, Work Order, Vendor RFQ, or Purchase Order and in a future update, converted to a new standard item number.  It can be saved and converted again at a later date, either in the identical configuration or in a modified form.

So F&O created with this new program are different from F&O created with the current FO-A? Can they be used in the Sales Order module (entry)?

You CREATE a F&O BOM using BM-A or FO-A and define all the available choices.

You then SELECT the choices for a particular build using either SO-A (Old DBA Classic version) or FO-G (new Evo Configurator).  Once you have made the selections in FO-G, then you can convert to a Sales order, Quote, Work Order or Purchase Order.

As stated in the prior post, in addition to having the flexibility to convert to multiple outputs, the new configurator can handle more levels per F&O BOM, more choices per level, you can save a particular configuration and convert it multiple times for repeat buys, you can go back and edit selections if the customer changes their mind, and you can stop and save in the middle of the selection process and come back later and finish it.  You can also embed choices down at lower levels of the BOM without having any choice points at the top level of the BOM.  "Mandatory" options are now truly mandatory and you can combine multiple choices so for example if the quantity per of a particular type O is 5 and there are 3 available choices, you do not have to choose the same for all 5.  When defining the BOM, you can designate whether or not a particular choice can be mixed with multiple choices.
