Deleting part #'s

We are trying to delete some part #'s that haven't had activity since 2003. For some parts we are getting the following message "Has unposted records in the Physical Inventory module".
How do we get around this?

Purge the old PI using PI-H. You can fake it out by backing up the BKPI* files, purging them so that the items can be deleted, then restore the BKPI* files.
