W2008 R2 64-bit server
06/01/11 at 06:04:43

Is anyone running PSQL 2000i on this server?

We are virtualizing and need to upgrade from W2k server. Wondering if 2000i is stable in R2.

To move 30 users to Pervasive 11 will cost you $3,500

That is not even close to your monthly salary (hehehe)

Save yourself some headaches and upgrade. We are running W8 64 with Pervasive 10, it runs very well. We have win2000, winXP and win7 workstation.
Everybody is happy here.

Have they come out with 64-bit ODBC drivers, yet? Last time I tried to use Pervasive 64-bit there were no drivers.

If you install 64. there is a few issues, applications like Office XP, that is a native 32, will not "see" the 64 Pervasive ODBC, vbscripts will not work either.

Pervasive 32 works very well.

To be quite honest, the 64/32 bit is a real pain in the butt.
I would install 64 only if all my workstations are Windows 7 and I have office 10

Pervasive 11 runs great on win2008 server, they also have a 32 bit and 64 bit odbc driver. they also made massive changes in handling & operating multi-core and multi-threads over the way they did it in Pervasive version 10.
see their whitepapers: http://www.pervasivedb.com/Documents/WP_The_Multi-core_Dilemma_20100723.pdf

yea, time to retire the 2000i eye I yi !!  Roll Eyes

Was Evo designed to utilize multiple cores? Pervasive mentions that some applications that were not written to utilize multi-core processors will run slower on them. I'd hate to see that since we're moving to a quad core server soon....

Since DBA/Evo actually runs on the local machine, it is only Pervasive that will benefit from server speed. Latency, query response times, and disk read times are the major determiners of the speed the use experiences, along with the speed of their own local machine.
