The upcoming change to the California state sales tax rate has prompted a number of questions regarding how and when to enter the new rate and how it will impact Sales Orders already in the system entered at the old rate.
 
On the last business day of the old tax rate, print and post all invoices that should be processed at the old rate.  Then go to SM-E and update the Tax Code to the new rate.  The Tax Group will automatically be updated.  While the SO-A screen of existing orders will not reflect the new rate unless you tab through all the lines, there is no need to do so.  SO-F and SO-G will recalculate the sales tax based on the updated Tax Code rate and process the invoice at the correct tax rate.  If you need to reprint an Acknowledgement to a customer reflecting the new tax rate, SO-B will also recalculate it.
