PO Due Date Padding
09/15/11 at 14:53:38

Hi Folks,

Is there any way to pad the due dates generated by MRP to account for receiving/qc lead times? The order action report has us bring in material on the day that a work order is supposed to be started and this leaves us no room for error.

Thanks,

In MRP defaults (mrp SD-Q setting) there is a field "Lead Time for WO Start Date". Just put in the numbers of days you want to pad the start date of work order.

This will pad all work order start dates? Even if a work order has no purchased parts in it. On assemblies with 3 or 4 different levels wouldn't this cause us to start work orders way before we need them? Maybe I am misinterpreting how this works.

I would like to be able to set up purchased parts to come in 2-3 weeks before the work orders are started without having to start all work orders 2-3+ weeks before they are needed. I hope that makes sense.

Hi,

This is just virtual padding. It does not touch the work order start date. Suppose you put in 7 days as padding and your work order xyz-1 has a start date of 10/5/2011 and this work order has one item in it, when you run mrp it will make the inhouse date for that raw part to be 9/28/2011. It does not touch your start date of work order in any ways.

I hope this helps
