create a Xaction in maintain database
11/10/11 at 16:26:54
BAck in July I went to GL-O to release some X-actions to the GL. I found my self out of balance. Either I had a one sided xaction or i had a couple of extra legs on a Xaction. I had this happen a few years back. I went to maintain DataBase (GLTemp) and deleted the Xactions that kept me from balancing so that i could send my xactions to the GL.
Well I ended up with my balance sheet showing I owe an $80.00 liabilty I really didnt owe. (it was paid) andI go to detial trial balance and I see that i am miising the leg for $80.00 that should be here.
So I go into maintain database to GLTRANS and create a record. This fixed the detail trial balance. (debits and credits balance andI have a zero balance) but it didnt fix the Balance Sheet. The balance sheet shows I have a 80.00 liabiltiy.
What do I have to do make the Balance sheet have a zero balance?
I really thought that if I got maintain database fixed it would fix the Balance Sheet.
Any and all help appreciated
Laura

Maintain Database on the transaction file only fixed the transaction detail. You need to run UT-K-D on the affected account to update the chart of accounts file (which the financial statements use) to agree with the transaction detail.

What are the potential problems of running UT-K-D, if any ?
I ran UT-K-D a few years ago, but I cant remember...
Of course, I will do a backup first and make sure everyone is off.
Thanks

if your summary trial balance and financial statements agree (other than the entry you just made) then it should change nothing else. No need to get other users off, just keep them out of GL.
