Partial Fininsh Production
05/29/12 at 10:15:15

We create a SO for 20 pieces, then convert it to a Work Order.
Then we ship out 20 pieces for an outside services (T Type )

The vendor returns 5, and 5 are received.

We would like to do partial finish production, so we can ship those 5 pieces.
But the system does not allow us: "....all items must be fully received..."

Shouldn't DBA allow to do partial finish production??

any suggestions?

You should be able to process partials, just not close the work order.  You may get a warning but you can go past it.

what is the EXACT message you are getting? and is this for a Type "N" part?  your type "N' part work orders are special, so I assume it is not.

The part to make is a F, the purchase has an outside service Part T. This is the msg:

"This work order has open, unreceived, purchase order items assigned to it.
PO # 1234. All open PO Items must be fully received or cancelled before a
work order is close."

I must have the wrong versions if the system will allow me to do it.
Could you please send me the programs involve on finish production?

Thanks

I've seen this happen on our work orders where we have a PO assigned to the WO for outside labor.  (We kit the parts for circuit boards, and then send them out to a board house for assembly).  Until the PO is received and reconciled (I.E. invoice received), if we try to close the WO, we get this message.

You should only get the message and have it stop you when you are closing the WO.  We made some changes to the WO-I program yesterday that I sent to Kelloggs.

I did received Lynn new WOI and we are testing it.

It works fine on Inventory Parts (F Type). It will allow you to do Partial Finish Production, when you have partially received a PO.

But if you use Non-Inventory Parts (N Type). It will allow you to release, print and invoice the Sales Order, even though the PO was not fully received.

It shouldn't allow you to invoice, or at lease warm you that the PO was not fully received.

The type N feature you are referring to is unique to you John, nobody else has that.  The fix I sent you was just for WO-I; now that it works, we can make the same change to the other programs.
