to archive WOs or to purge? that is the question
06/18/12 at 07:15:42
I archived about 18,000 work orders on Saturday, but WO-A etc, is still slow. I had expected to see a dramatic increase in recall/search/
Will I see a faster WO-A if I purge the workorders.

You have to reindex your Work Order tables.
UT-A
NZINDEX.RUN
If you dont have it buy it it is worth every penny.

Thanks Kelloggs,
I did a search and found what Lynn said on a previous thread: "UT-A program NZINDEX (Classic) or NZINDEX.RUN (Evo) is a $49.95 add-on that can save list(s) of files to reindex together and provide a report upon completion of which files were reindexed and which were open and therefore skipped, and how much disk space was recovered"
Would it be in vain to buy and run NZINDEX.RUN if I am going to end up purging the workorders anyway?
Also what else would NZINDEX.RUN help with? Why else do people use it?
Blessings,
Laura

DBA/EVO comes with a free re-index utility but you have to reindex each table at a time.
The NZINDEX.RUN utility will allow you to reindex all of them.
You can purge, delete records, but it will not increase the speed of your system until you reindex your tables.
You should reindex your tables at least twice a year anyways.
It is part of your "Database Maintenance Best practices"

Please remember:
Backup your tables.
DBA/EVO can not be use during the process.

" Backup your tables"
Am, I correct to assume that this happens when I send a copy of DBAMFG to a thumb drive?
Or do I have to do something special?
