DBA closes unexpectantly
08/01/12 at 15:34:45

Hi,
A couple months back we replaced our ancient Windows NT Server 4.0 w/ Windows Server 2008 & moved over our 2002.4 DBA classic to the new server.  We also updated our Pervasive to psql 11.  Since we've done that, one of our workstations sporadically closes DBA with no error messages.

We usually leave DBA open on all 3 workstations all the time with no problems.  But now, at least once a week, I'll go to MFG-PO to enter a PO & as soon as I click on the "PO" button, the whole DBA program just closes down, no error message given, actually I got a "stack flow" error message once but didnt write it down.

I click on the DBA icon on my desktop to open it up again & get that "you may only run one copy of DBA at a time, please restart your computer" message.

Any idea why this is happening after the server replacement & Pervasive upgrade??  And how can I fix it??

Thank you.

DBAMS.EXE (in the DBAMFG folder on the server) can be run on the workstation to set a registry setting to turn on multiple sessions and eliminate the need to reboot.  As for why it disconnects, I have seen instances with Windows Vista and 7 that mapped drives get disconnected after a period of inactivity.  There is something you can set to prevent it but I am not sure what it is, maybe somebody else can chime in.

Solved!!!

With this command: net config server /autodisconnect:-1
your Win7 will not disconnect your network drives during periods of inactivity.

Changing this setting will connect your network drives at logon

Please open gpedit.msc from Start Search box. Then locate to the following policy:

Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Network security: LAN Manager authentication level

Please change “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”.
