Printing Linked PDF's with Pick Lists
07/26/13 at 09:18:54

Question:
What would we need to do to set up an automatic printing job so that when we print a pick list for a WO#, the Linked PDF's on each part number gets printed with the pick list? Has anyone ever done something like this before?

You have to set the link printing up for the components to print as a Linked Document with the Work Order Pick List when the item is a component on the work order.  This requires that you use Evo Links, not Inventory Image links.  The Image Links version has a Shop Traveler option but not Pick List.

Where in SD-Q can you enable Evo Links? Been looking around and haven't found the option yet.
Also, when we enable evo Links, do the Item Links dissapear from DBA Classic?

Enable Evo Links and Evo Notes are both on the System Manager tab in SD-Q.  Turning it on does not make the DBA Classic Item Links disappear; it just controls which links are printed in Evo and enables links to things other than inventory items.

After enabling Evo Links, our Item Links did not by default appear when looking up an item# in IN-A. Is there a way to turn on Evo Links and have the old Item Link show up by default?

SM-S has a button to convert your Item Image links to Evo Links.

FYI, Linked documents will only "print" if you physically print or email them. Thumbnails, however, will also show up on Preview.

Yes, we are physically printing pick lists and plan to print linked documents with them.

I figured that would be your normal operating procedure, just wanted to let you know in case you're testing and don't see them on screen. However, that "feature" comes in handy when you get black boxes on DBA/Evo forms and only want to reprint the form but not all the Linked documents - just keep printing from Preview until you don't get black boxes...

Alright...having an issue. When we go to print a pick list, WE tried the Y,P, and C options on "Print associated documents" but none of them worked. Do we have to manually go associate a document with the WO? I figured with option "P" it would print the linked document of the parent part.

Not sure where you're at with "Print Associated Documents". Is that on the Print Packing Slips screen, or in the Item setup? Both places you have to specify when you want them printed.

Since you apparently had the links before converting to Evo Links, do you know if they worked before?
If you haven't had them working before, verify (in IN-B) that the Path is right, and that the File Association is set to Windows.

Yes, the link to the Parent part of the WO works just fine.
I am using WO-D Print Pick Lists. Then Choosing the option to Print Linked documents. (Associated was the wrong word there.) All of our links point to PDF files on a mapped network drive on each PC.
Each machine has a PDF software association set up in Windows locally.

Ok, this is basic and I hope I'm not insulting you, but do you have an entry for printing on WO Pick Lists?

Unlike the old DBA links, you don't just enter the T or L for every form you want on one screen, there's a separate entry for every document type on the Printing tab of the Evo Link.

Not an insult---This is the first time we've looked at Evo Links at all.
I created the WO Pick List entry on the Evo note for the item and it does work now.
Question: When we create a new WO for this part, will the link be associated with the WO# by default?

I'm assuming that you're putting the link(s) on the Item (IN-B). Then it will always print on/with any Traveler, Pick List, etc for that Item as long as you make the selection (or or save it as a default setting) to Print Linked Docs. In this case the link is only associated with WO# indirectly because it has the Item on it.

If you put the links on the WO (WO-A), the link is only associated with that distinct WO.
