Evo Starts on 2nd Monitor in Win7 multi-monitor
10/07/13 at 08:29:31

A common hardware configuration in our office is a laptop with a 2nd monitor.  When a 2nd monitor is connected, Evo insists on starting on the 2nd monitor, and assumes it is configured on the right side.  Occasionally, we have a user with 2nd monitor configured on the left, and the first few times we could not figure out why Evo wasn't launching in this setup.  Eventually, we figured we had to initially set up the 2nd monitor on the right, then launch Evo, then drag it to the laptop's main monitor, then set the 2nd monitor up on the left, then drag Evo to the left monitor.  From there it seems to remember the 2nd monitor is on the left.

There are some cases where the user wants Evo to run on the laptop's screen, not the 2nd monitor.  Evo does not seem to be able to default to this.  If a 2nd monitor is connected, Evo will default to it, and the user has to manually drag it back.

We have a user who has a daily meeting outside of her office.  She takes her laptop with her.  She must remember to drag Evo to the laptop screen before disconnecting the 2nd monitor, or Evo will launch off screen when she's away from her desk and 2nd monitor.  There doesn't appear to be any way to "drag" Evo back to the laptop screen unless she physically walks back to her office and reconnects the 2nd monitor.

Is this a known issue?  Is there a workaround?

Thanks,
Tim

Has anyone else run Evo in a multi-monitor environment that can confirm the behavior I'm seeing?  I'd at least like confirmation that I'm not crazy Smiley

One trick: After she opens Evo and it is on the other screen, Hold the Windows key and use your keyboard arrow keys to move it to the other screen.  Wink

Just to clarify:  this should not be happening, correct?  I have not seen other apps behave in this way on multi-monitor setups.  They generally default to opening on the main screen, and only open on 2nd monitor if you explicitly drag it there, then close it.  On next launch, it remembers and opens on 2nd screen.
