I am trying to import BOM's. The import screen shows 2 columns. What is the second one  used for?

All the standard import screens have 2 columns.  If your source file is comma delimited, you only use the first and indicate which column in the source file contains the specified data.  If it is fixed length then both the columns are used, designating the starting position and length of the field data in the source file.
