Locking Folders or Files in DBAMFG
04/28/14 at 16:26:04

We had an issue today where an employee accidentally deleted database files.

We are using DBA classic and we have the DBAMFG server folder shared with Domain Users having full access.

Is it possible to lock the folder by giving Domain Users read only access?

What are the recommended permissions on files and folders?

We are using Pervasive.

They have to have read/write access to the data so they can update the information.  In Evo-ERP you can protect it somewhat by using the UNC path to the server which is buried in an INI file, rather than mapping a drive, which buries it a bit for the average user protecting against mistakes.

We use UNC paths for this reason.

I hid the database folder and that seems to work fine, thank you for the suggestion.
