DBAMFG Folder Clean up
08/05/15 at 09:33:16

We have been using DBA/EVO since 2001, we always try to keep it clean and organized.
On another machine I installed DBA of the Original CDs then installed EVO. The installation was a success.

This test installation has 6,172 Files and my current Evo folder has 7,353 files
There is difference of close to 1,200 files. That is a lot.

Just on the root of the DBAMFG folder I found some ratter suspicious files:

BKDEHA~1.RUN
.PSF
2001.CON, 2002.CON, 2003.CON, 2004.CON
AGL008.RUN
AGL008A.RUN
BKADI.RUN
BKAIB.RUN
BKAIDC.RUN
BKAIE.RUN
BKAIF.RUN
BKAIG.RUN
BKAIH.RUN
BKAII.RUN
BKAIJ.RUN
BKAIK.RUN
BKAIL.RUN
BKDEB.IMP
BKDEC.IMP
BKDED.IMP
BKDEE.IMP
BKDEF.IMP
BKDEG.IMP
NZ082414.B, NZ082804.B, NZ090609.B, NZ092108.B, NZ092403.B, NZ092610.B
NZ100703.B, NZ101107.B, NZ102406.B, NZ102505.B
NZSOFLS.INP, NZSOLFS.INP, NZUDFLS.INP, NZWOFLS.INP
setup.exe
setup.inf
setup.ini
setup.lst
setup.stf
setup.tdf
WHOAMI.DBA
WO4859.joboptions

The list goes on and on,
There has to be a easy way to clean  it up, than moving the files some where else and wait .

 lips sealed

I agree it's kind of a mess.

In addition to all the DBA produced extra and/or no longer used files, are the individual backups we make before working on something. Those are relatively easy to identify, as we generally append the date to the file name after making the copy.

At one of the training classes we were given a list/procedure for cleaning up at least some of the extra files, but I hesitate to post it here or share it, because it was part of something we paid IST for. However, maybe you could beg or borrow it from Lynn.

I don't think so.

Evo put them there, Evo should remove them.

See http://www.istechsupport.com/dl/datacleanup.pdf

This is available for anybody.  If you save reports, exports, PDFs or anything else to the main folder, we can't delete them for you.   DBA/Evo didn't "make" them.

But, you could not "suggest" (or, in some cases, not even offer an option other than) the DBAMFG (or EVOERP) folder as the place to save them. In fact, it would be nice if the used could set that somewhere, but even the default My Documents would be a lot better than the root program folder.

XLB files are typically Excel toolbar configuration files. However I suppose that Evo might have copied the idea for some of the screen settings. I would probably try moving them to another folder and see how the program functions without them. Especially since they seem to be in company data folders, not the actual main application folder.

The XLB files are left over from a 2008 update and can be deleted.

The default report destination path can be defined per user at Settings - US-A to redirect someplace other than the DBAMFG or EVOERP folder.

I guess that is the "Dflt Print Path". When I open US-A, it is blank; however when I click in the space it fills in with what appears to be two paths jammed together: the program folder and the data folder. In my case it looks like this:
\\SBSR2\APPS\DBAMFG\S:\DBA\VH\

Do you need to put two paths in (probably duplicate) because some things use the first one and some the second?

No, I am not sure where it is getting this but you just need a single path.

DE-A still puts the file in the root application folder unless you specify a full path.

Just went to make a PDF of a GL-C report, and when I clicked the ... it opened DBAMFG.

I double checked, and when I opened  US-A it shows the path I put in: X:\
