Welcome aboard! We are a contract machining company that machines parts to customer supplied drawings and specs. We are using Evo for everything from inventory, sales orders, job costing, purchase orders and scheduling to shop floor data collection. As with any system, the results will only be as good as your inputs. Evo does a great job with BOM and routing. We create items that may or may not have multi-level bills of material. Materials may be purchased into inventory for issuing, or directly to a work order. For us the key is to make sure PO's are received, materials are issued and all labor transactions are posted prior to stocking and closing a WO. If all of the inputs are in, we close the work order and put the pieces into inventory. At that point we can ship to the customer and have an accurate COGS number to post with the sale. For years, we had a one day lag between finishing a job and posting the sale. The good news is that Evo (with the proper defaults) will let you ship product today, that you finished today. I see you are also in NE Ohio. We're not far down the road in Canton, and I'd be happy to show you how we do things.
