LOOKUP PART NUMBERS BY CUSTOMER P/N
11/21/15 at 08:34:14

Good Morning!
I could use some input on looking up part numbers by customer part number. I've been using the part number assignment system and the print-out as it exists forever, so that I get. In SM-SD-M-SETUP II, I have customer cross reference set as 1, user defined as 2, and upc set for "N." In none of the lookups, whether in SO-A, or IN-A, do I see the customer x-ref as an option I can choose. User defined and UPC are there, though.  In the system for printing cross references, you must do it by customer. You cannot just enter the part number given, and have it look it up for you. We frequently get requests for cross references on part numbers where the requester has no idea whose part number it is. (They are not engineers, they are folks who have been given a list of people to contact and part numbers to inquire about. They do not know if it is their own in-house number, or one of our competitors' numbers, a down-stream build-house's number, a jar of pickles, or an elephant.)
So, assuming that I have my settings set right, I think I must be missing something. How can I look up someone else's part number that exists in my system (A magic cross reference that knows all would be swell, but not what I am expecting...) without knowing whose number it is?
Thank you for your help!
Ann Luce

In Evo, at the top of the Inventory lookup grid there is a check mark with a plus sign next to it.  Click that for a lookup by customer or vendor or manufacturer part number.  The SD-M entry refer to is for SO-A only.  When entering an order, if this default is set and you enter a part number that is not a valid Evo part number, the program next checks the alternates in the specified order to find the item.
