MR-G On Hand and Beg Bal Do not match
04/05/16 at 13:34:50

For any part, after running MR-F and then running MR-G afterwards, the On Hand and MRP Beginning balance do not match for any part.  The report is being run without any data filters. For every part, the MRP beginning balance is 0.00  ***.

This used to work, seems to be broken now.  Not sure when it was last working, perhaps before we jumped to the 2015 version.

How to fix????

As mentioned elsewhere, I have not run MRP in quite a while (at least one, probably 2 years).

I ran MR-G and it showed MRP Beginning balances on most items, but didn't match the On Hand. A few were 0.00 ***.

Then I ran MR-F and reprinted MR-G. This time all but one* BBs matched the OH. The few that were 0 didn't have the asterisks after it, so I'm guessing that either you are running a broken program/report, or some part of your setup isn't right.

I'm running:
T7MRF - 3/9/16 banner date
T7MRG - 2/11/16 banner date

* The very first item/page in the report was different.

Thanks, David.

Here MR-F is 2/2/16, MR-G is 7/26/13.  I essentially have the same results as you.

Last night, we ran MR-F after the forecasts were updated, and then ran MR-G and it was clean/correct *except* for the very first item in the report, which had an on hand quantity but the MR-G beginning balance was zero.  There were no asterisks on any of the items listed, which I what we expected.

The purchasing people here tend to run MR-G a few times a day on a per vendor basis because they say it is more helpful to them than the MR-H report (I don't fully understand this, but there it is).  In any event, of course once business is going, things change and the MR-G is no  longer accurate, and the asterisks appear, and then the beginning balances do not match the on hand quantities--actually the beginning balances all go back to 0.00 ***, and the on hand qtys are mostly correct, but sometimes they do show up as incorrectly 0.00 as well.

So that goes back to another post I have somewhere in this forum, how are people using MRP?  Perhaps we need to change how it is being used--is it really necessary to run MR-G multiple times a day?  We also run into the issue of two people running it at the same time and causing MR-F to no longer work, and we have to stay after hours to fix it.

I would think that MR-F is run once or twice a day ?(or as often as forecasts tend to change around here?), and then people use MR-H to determine what to buy, etc. rather than MR-G?

Also, does anyone have an idea of how the MR-G beginning balance is being calculated?

I would suggest trying to ascertain just what it is about MR-G that they prefer. There are a couple things it does that MR-H does not, but I would think that they could probably get what they need from MR-H.

Yep, you and a few other people have suggested MR-H over MR-G.  The users all seem to insist on MR-G over MR-H (they claim MR-H is not "helpful"), and I am working to understand why....like I said, they have not made it clear to me yet....

Thank you very much for all your input.

Kind regards,

So these guys want to stick with MR-G over MR-H, they insist that MR-G provides the information they really need, not MR-H.

So.....dunno, we still have the stupid issue with MR-G not having a correct beg bal vs on hand. The only time it is accurate is just after MR-F is run.  Once the work day starts, it is no longer correct.  We hear about it *every*  *single* *day*  *of* *the* *week*,
relentless, when is this gonna be fixed?  Does *anyone* know what causes this and how to fix it?

The Current On-Hand and MR-G beginning balance will not agree once transaction activity has occurred but the transaction activity should be related to MRP actions that were already anticipated.  We have corrected the 0 beginning balance for the first part as well as a Location related issue that would only have been obvious if MRP was being run for combined locations.  These fixes will be uploaded to the patch website shortly.  The MRP Beginning Balance on the MR-G also reflects any date range filters so if your current on hand is 27 but you run MR-G with a date range of 6/1/16 through 7/31/16 the beginning balance is the MRP projected balance as of the close of business 5/31/16.

Thanks, Lynn. I will pass this along to Purchasing and Manufacturing.  I hope this answers their question/issue.
