How you handle it would depend upon how you define blanket order. Where I work, if we place a blanket order with a vendor, we don't have firm release dates, but expect that they will keep a reasonable stock on hand after the initial lead time. It also means that at the end of the blanket period, we get the remaining items on the PO, whether we need them or not. With a scheduled (release) order, we have separate lines for each release. Depending upon how flexible the vendor is willing to be, we can move up or delay a shipment some. If your customer can live with more or less fixed delivery dates, then I would suggest separate lines.
