Bulk Inventory Description Updates
07/22/16 at 16:35:02

We are in the process of bulk updating inventory descriptions and I want to confirm/clarify what the best way to get the updated info into DBA/Evo would be.

It is my understanding that you can use System Mgr -> DE - Data Export -> B- Import Inventory to import the information with the Replace option selected, then edit/fix any errors using DE-B-J, and then transfer the info into the permanent files using DE-B-M.

At this point we’re only updating descriptions on a portion of our items, but I know that the Import Inventory program requires several other fields to work properly.

My questions are:
1.       Is this the proper way to do this?
2.       If not, what would the proper procedure be?
3.       Several of our items have a double quote in them to indicate inches.  What is the best way to ensure that the double quotes are uploaded?

Thanks in advance!  Smiley

This is NOT the way to do it as you will wipe out all sorts of other inventory related information.  Evo has a generic import program that can be used to import a new description and merge it into the existing inventory files without wiping out the other fields.
