Global BOM Refresh?
12/29/16 at 10:09:20

Walter is making some changes to part types, and instead of having to go in and refresh each related BOM so it shows the part type updated, he's wondering if there is a faster way to do this like a global BOM refresh function? I don't see anything that would do that in Evo.

background:  Manufacturing is having an issue with some work orders entering the finished production (WO-I) where it prompts with "this is a multi yield order. are you ready to process this order?" even though there are no multi-yield parts associated.  I asked Walter to check the BOM and make sure there are no N parts.Walter checked the BOM and there were a few type N parts but they were not flagged as multi yield.  He decided to change them to type B because in these cases they are labels that we do need to order and keep stocked. But after making the part type change, when you looked at IN-A the type had changed, but if you looked at the BOM or where used, the part was still listed as N.  If he goes into BM-A and views the BOM, then it gets updated and where used also shows correctly.  Then we tested: created a new work order for the same parent part and issued materials and then entered finished production, and we are no longer prompted with the multi yield order message.  But to do this for many parts/BOMs is terribly time consuming, unfortunately. Before he goes down that path, wanted to make sure there wasn't a utility or something that would do this once he changes the part type in IN-B.

Thanks,

Val

BM-G will synch the item types in the BOM file with the item master even if you say No to Save Changes to Standard Cost.
