Email trouble
09/21/17 at 10:23:16

When I set up email to use unsecure settings it works fine. When I set up the same for secure email using the same settings as my email client (which works fine) Evo email is not sent. A popup asking to run java pops up and that's as far as it goes.

Any ideas?

The email using security is calling Java but it is explicitly calling the JAVA.EXE that we provide in the JAVA\BIN folder under DBAMFG (or EVOERP) folder.  Can you run any of the JDBC programs?  SM-T, BM-N, DE-A?

I have not used any of those before. I just ran SM-T and a popup asked if it should run and then it worked, said I had successfully connected to the database. I'm not sure what these programs are for.

Most of the programs in Evo and DBA are written in the TAS language which has been used since the original DOS DBA program (TAS 3) and has evolved to the current Evo version (TAS 7).  DBA Classic is TAS 5.

As we have tried to address customer requests we have come across some challenges that can not be met within the TAS language so we have introduced a handful of programs written in Java and using JDBC to connect to the database when a database connection is needed.  The JDBC settings are established at SM-T.  The secure email is one of the Java programs as are BM-N, DE-A, SH-R, GL-R, SO-I and a few others.

I notice that when I press the test email button in the email setup, a windows popup asks if it should allow the java.exe to run. Is it possible that this program doesn't work because windows is preventing it from running when EVO is sending an email? How would this be resolved?

Yes. I hit test button, and a popup comes up stating - We can't verify who created this file - Are you sure you want to run this file? Answer yes and it runs. It displays a small report that says " A successful database connection has been made....

You need to go to Internet Explorer - Tools - Internet Options - Security - Local Intranet and make your server a trusted site to make the popup go away.
