Tracking Features/Opt in Sales reports
04/21/03 at 12:20:07

I am constantly bombarded with engineering changes creating new finished good part numbers where the explaination given is "It's the same as so-and-so, but with this one change."  I am therefore excited to begin the cultural shift of not creating a new number every time the color changes (to borrow from the DBA example).  The question posed to me, which I now pose to you good folks, is if you don't code the blue desk and the red desk as separate finished good part numbers, but rather a desk with options of color as red or blue, is there a way to track the sales of red desks vs. blue ones?
Thanks again for your advice,
Jim Walden

The option chosen (red or blue paint, for example) will be an item on the sales order so you can see the sales history of that.  However if you use the same red and blue paint on desks, scooters and wagons, you may need some special reporting to link the color to the parent part.
