Corrective Actions
06/21/03 at 09:06:18

It would be nice if there was a way to record or to tag P/N's that have corrective actions or nonconforming material reports history to alert manufacturing personel by use of the shop traveler. DBA users that wish to conform to ISO 9000 requirements must maintain independant systems to do this now which can result in loss of continuity and additional steps to research the part to see if such history exists for the purpose of corrective action followup. Some discussion amongst different industry professionals should be had before attacking this one to try and keep it universal.

OR, you could change to a software solution designed to do this and SO much more such as the other software I represent from Epicor Software (Vista and Vantage).

Unfortunately, it is priced at a reasonable market level in order to deliver the features that customers want....like this.

Probably similar to your products and services, where you can't/won't give everything for next to nothing.

Could you use the item # spec to advise corrective action/nonconforming?  It would need maintained, just like anything else.  It does show up on the router.
When it's taken care of, remove it off the spec.  It'll still be in the historical work orders, I think.

Do you use SO-N to convert sales orders to work orders? If so, here's how we handle it.

You can enter a sequence in RO-A referencing the corrective action history at the exact point of processing and it will transfer to the work order during conversion.

If you use the templates in RO-I to setup a standard operation format you can use a report writer to get listings of part numbers and their data.

Add Karen's suggestion and I think you'll be covered.

We use the Item # spec for specs that need to appear on travelers, packing lists, certifications, etc.. I wouldn't want to include the nonconformance history on my certifications. I'm thinking more like another seperate file that can be pulled from to be included on travelers. As far as using another product... We are comfortable with dba and don't wish to change. Adding another product would be overkill, this is only a suggestion for a DBA upgrade.
