It is actually the lot number of the finished parts such as A-1 or A-2 etc. It can be traced back to the raw material: ie Our manufactured Part #3123 has a heat code A-1 forged into the part and is made from Heat #123456 of 1"dia 4140 from XYZ steel company. The A-1 or A-2 etc. is physically on the part. It relates to a WO# which has the raw material information. Each bin of parts carries the Part Number, WO#, Heat Code (or lot #), Qty on order, and due date. This is all for traceability and identification. So far I have not had any success with the forms editor, I'm not sure if I have it properly loaded etc.
