Work order labels
08/11/03 at 12:14:19

Need to print labels (WO-E) with heat codes for work orders.  I need a way to add the info onto the label.  The heat code is different for each run of each part.

Any ideas?

What do you use for the Heat Code now in DBA?  Lot number?  Could the Wok Order number BE the heat code number?

We use lot number.  The work order number doesn't work as well - sometimes we have 2-3 lots per work order if there is different raw material lots.

Karen,

We could do this QUITE nicely for you using MS Access 2000 or 2002(XP).  And you do NOT have to have a bunch of Access licenses.  We can do it as a "packaged" application which utilizes the MS Access "run-time" version which is free from MS and would be included.

So it is the lot number of the raw material going into the work order?  Or the lot number of the finished parts coming out?  The TAS 6 forms editor can add fields to the file but the file containing the field needs to be opened by the program and pointing to the right record.

THAT is why I suggested Access.  Either way is not a problem.  Or both at the same time.  Or any other information required.

It is actually the lot number of the finished parts such as A-1 or A-2 etc. It can be traced back to the raw material: ie Our manufactured Part #3123 has a heat code A-1 forged into the part and is made from Heat #123456 of 1"dia 4140 from XYZ steel company.

The A-1 or A-2 etc. is physically on the part.  It relates to a WO# which has the raw material information.  Each bin of parts carries the Part Number, WO#, Heat Code (or lot #), Qty on order, and due date.

This is all for traceability and identification.

So far I have not had any success with the forms editor, I'm not sure if I have it properly loaded etc.
