Lost sales orders
01/06/04 at 13:58:55

Using SO-A, we entered several sales orders, saved them, printed the acknowledgements and packing lists and exited SO-A.  Later, we opened up the sales order, didn't make any changes and exited without saving.  The sales order "disappeared".  It wasn't listed on the SO-A opening screen.  When we re-enter it, using the same sales order number, we get the message that the sales order doesn't exist.  We have done this repeatedly today.
Version 2002.4 with IS Tech Support update of 12/1/03.

When you re-enter it using the same SO number, does it pull in the line items or are they lost and have to be re-entered too?

Could try reindexing BKARINV & BKARINVL - those are the files involved.

The line items are lost also.  There is no trace of the sales order anywhere.  I just had the employee repeat the steps.  We were able to identify the specific sequence of events resulting in a deleted order and have been able to consistently replicate it.

If the order is entered, saved and reopened and exited without saving, the order is deleted with no trace of it.  This only occurs if the order is reopened before getting out of SO-A.  So if the order is saved and SO-A is closed, then SO-A is selected and the order is opened and exited without saving the order is not deleted.

Hope that makes sense.

As a short term fix, I have told them to save when they exit the order, even if no changes were made.  But it is risky so hopefully you have a fix.

Lynn will have to look in to the fix for this, but I can pretty much guarantee that if it is reproducable as you indicate, then it is due to a certain TAS command that writes the data from the floating memory location that TAS uses while the order is being created to the actual data table(s). Sounds like the command is out of sequence in the code.

We just had this happen today.   The Sales guy entered an order.  When he completed the 4th line item, he pressed F10 to save the order (back in the days of DBA 9x.x, F10 was the save key and it is impossible for me to get anyone here to change!  AARRGG!!!)  Sorry, I digress.

To continue, after pressing F10  Sad  he immediately printed a packing list and acknowledgement from the handy dandy popup box.  From this point, we think he stayed in the SO-A Opening Screen.  He took the Acknowledgement and packing list to accounting.  The lady in accounting wanted to look at the order on her screen.  She clicked SO-A, went to the bottom, but it was not there.

I then went into Maintain Database, and confirmed that there was no trace of the order header, or order line Items.  I checked the Sales Order Counter, and it was set to the next order number after the one that is now gone.

Very Strange.

I can't duplicate the problem. I am running SO-A through Evo.

Also, is there a problem with using F10? The only thing I've noticed is that if you accidentally hit F9 instead you duplicate the last line item.

No problem with F10 that I am aware of, it is still the "SAVE" key most places within DBA.

As for the disappearing orders, I will see if I can duplicate.  Kevin & Katrina - do you both have the latest IS Tech version installed?  I know you are both subscribers, just making sure we are all looking at the same version of the program.

Got it!!!!!!!!

Do this:
1. Add in a new sales order
2. Save The Sales order (F10 or Save button)
3. Clock ok on freight screen
4. Press ESC to exit to opening Screen
5. Select Order just entered to edit it
6. Click Exit SO from Header Screen
7. Answer Yes to "Exit this Sales order without saving changes?"

Order is now GONE from opening Screen

Still can't duplicate.

A couple of additions/clarifications (and, I'm on Evo and ISTS update 12/31/03).

1. Add in a new sales order
     a. add at least one line item.
2. Save The Sales order (F10 or Save button)
3. Click ok on freight screen
     a. default ending lines = Yes
     b. sales doc printing, all = No
4. Press ESC to exit to opening Screen
5. Select Order just entered to edit it
6. Click Exit SO from Header Screen
     a. without going to the line item screen
7. Answer Yes to "Exit this Sales order without saving changes?"
     a. it's still there

I use the keyboard for everything, don't think that would make a difference, but....

Dang!!!     Angry

I was so excited to find the problem I failed to mention 1 minor detail.    Tongue

When you get the handy dandy screen to print documents, print the packing list and an acknowledgement.

Sorry for the omission    undecided
