GL-E Print trial balance question
01/22/04 at 15:45:38

When we try to run GL-E Print trial balance, we get message, 'There are unposted YE entries in the BKGLTEMP file. These must be posted before this program can be run'.

After viewing the BKGLTEMP file, it appears that no one has done any month end closings since June.  Does anyone have any tips or sequence of processes that need to done so we can run GL-E.

Thanks in advance.

So when you run GL-O for just YE type entries what does it show?

Just post the YE and other entries in GL-O.  Until they are posted, running GL-E is meaningless.

Posting GL-O transactions should be a daily process, it has nothing to do with month end closing.  You can process and post transactions in January while you are still wrapping up reports for December.

First of all, I want to thank you for the advice.

A little background, our financial person left in earlier this year. I am the IT / manufacturing person so I'm out of my element here.

Running GL-O, I get meesage that 30,000 transactions out of balance, and chose NO to exclude them and post them later.

I assume GL-P is next to edit entries, but do not know what's next. Any ideas on next logical step.

Per Lynn's suggestion, GL-O will be proceesed daily after getting this backlog corrected.

Thanks Again,
Greg Stamps

Choose No to exclude the transactions and go ahead into GL-O.  Any journals that are in balance, select them and post them to reduce the size of the file.  Then for the out of balance batches, beginning selecting in date range blocks, again to post as much as possible.  Once you have whittled the unposted transactions down to size, you can use the Out of Balance report to figure out what is off and then use GL-P to fix it.
