surcharge
02/09/04 at 14:10:43

we are in need of charging a surcharge until our
steel prices stabilize - we do not want to do a price
increase because we feel the steel price issue is
temporary.  ANY SUGGESTIONS????????

Create a type N item called "tempory surcharge" or some such and put in the price you want to add and add that to each SO that you think needs it.

I was hoping to not calculate it by hand -
I was also asked by the General Manager if
it could be an item down by the freight
at the bottom of the page.

Ah. Well, we created a custom mod that is for line-by-line price modifications by either percentage or flat dollar amount with a code and description and an import capability to bring in a bunch of these "adders and subtractors" into a new table structure....how about that?

Maybe try entering  a negative amt in the %Discount box? I haven't tried it, but it might work.

I just tried -1.00 % discount, and it did add in 1% to the line Item price!!  This could be useful.

The only problem is that the Discount field on the Line Item screen is only 5 characters wide.
This only allows entry of -1.00 -> -9.99.

Maybe Lynn could increase the size of this screen field by two characters to allow -1.00 -> -100.00.

WOW - thankx for all the conversation - Ideally - it would be a single separate line item so that it could
definately be identified as a surcharge and not a price increase - the other problem is the powers above have
decided that fence will be charged at 5% and everything
else @ 7% - I believe that we are just going to have to
calculate it by hand and use a separate line item to
include it - I will make a non-inventory item and go from there.  And again - thankx so much for all of the feedback - this was great!!!!!!!!
