Exporting Payroll Data
07/16/04 at 14:26:09

Does anyone have experience with exporting payroll data?  I need to be able to export the current payroll information to our bank in a delimited format.

Its easy enough to do in the export data program (DE-A) in the system manager.  My question is what do they need, because that determines what file to exoprt from.  You also need to have adequate security to operate that program.

Fields to be exported after each pay period are: employee name, check number, net pay, and payroll date.

I have been experimenting with this, but so far have not been able to come up with e the information requested!

If memory serves, all the information you are looking for is in BKPRMSTR.

No, you need to link BKPRMSTR and BKPRHIST - BKPRMSTR will get you the name based on the employee number and BKPRHIST will get the pay detail for a given pay  date.  BKPRMSTR doesn't contain individual pay detail, just YTD and QTD totals.

I understand about relying on memory!!

And I am almost there with exporting the data - but how do I link the two files so that the employee names are on the data page - or can they be on the same page?

You need to do 2 exports. Then bring up the files in Excel and you can copy the data from one to the other as appropriate. An easier method would be to create an ODBC instance and then use the ability in Excel to create a query where both files would be in the query and linked via the key data field and then you can refresh this data each time you would open that saved Excel file.
