AM-A reset close date
10/14/04 at 05:48:22

We seem to have found that work order transactions can be
posted to the prior month even after the close date (30Sep04) has been set. We noticed a work order transaction posted on 30Sep04 done on 12Oct04.  The fiscal month end should prevent any operational transactions from occurring. Why did this happen?

The Close Date should be the first date of the current month rather than the last date of the prior month.  Transactions are prevented on any date less than the close date, not less than or equal to the close date.

From the DBA Help file:  General Ledger posting will not be allowed from any programs in the system prior to this date.  The Close Date therefore should be set for the first day of the current open period.

On the brighter side, even though the work order transactions carry a prior month date in the Work Order Module, the prior month date can be manually edited to the current month using GL-P, and searching by date BEFORE posting these work order transactions to the General ledger.

This helps keep the integrity of the General Ledger to the current month, and not change prior month statements by others effecting transactions carrying prior dates.
