End of Month Reports taking long time to print.
11/02/04 at 07:05:47

V99.2

IN-N-A (Print Month End Inventory Reports) is taking a very long time to process.  So much so that the printer (HP 2100TN) is timing out and aborting the print job when it gets to Inventory Released to WIP.  I had to list it to screen and then print to printer in order for it to print completely.  The scan for that report alone is taking approximately 40 minutes.

We have been on DBA since 5/99 and have not purged any records.

Any quick suggestions?

Thank You

IN-N-A uses the Inventory Transaction file.  There is a Consolidate Inventory Transactions program but I forget where it is on the 99.2 menu - WHY are you still on such an old version?

Thanks for replying Lynn..

I found MM-G Consolidate Inventory Txns.  I'm sure this is what you are referring to.

We have been hesitant to upgrade due to hardware updates required and changes to procedures.

Thank you very much

Changes to procedures I understand as being a potential roadblock to updates but as far as hardware is concerned, DBA version 99.2 through 2004.1 and basic IS Tech Support updates to DBA Classic all have the same hardware requirements so that should not be an issue preventing you from updating.  There are some Pervasive related hardware issues but you can update DBA without updating the Pervasive.

As for the Pervasive issues...  If you have any WIN 2000 or XP stations, you should have Pervasive 2000i which is NOT supported for old WIN 95 stations.  Pervasive is claiming that WIN 2003 Server is only supported on Pervasive 8 (which is not a free update, you have to buy it) but I have a number of DBA users with Pervasive 2000i and WIN 2003 server and it is working fine.  I suspect the potential issues invoved deal with ODBC and other file access issues that basic DBA does not use since it is using the transactional rather than the relational engine.

I have run the Consolidate Inventory program using 10/31/04 as the date of consolidation.  When I try to run EOM reports now (for 11/01/04 thru 11/01/08), I have all defaults set to "Y" as usual, and only the first report prints (Adjustments).  If I try to run the individual reports for anything else, nothing is printed.  I've looked at the file in Edit Database and I still see individual transactions for parts going back to '99.  Some of the MMIT keys are missing or have just a few characters in them.  The first report when I ran consolidate inventory appeared to not have processed the entire inventory file.  THe last part listed was 14682 (over 3800 pages long).  The second time I ran consolidate inventory, the last part listed was 12942 which is before 14682.  I have parts that go into the alphanumeric range (A-Z start).  Should I re-index the invtxn.b file and try again?

Thanks
