Change Part # on WO
11/03/04 at 05:37:01
Good morning. We have a WO (it's been converted from a SO) with an incorrect part on it. I need to remove the incorrect part and replace it with the correct one. I recently had to learn more in the MFG module as the gentleman who did it left our company. Do I need to cancel the work order and start again from the SO, or is there an easier way to just change it as it stands - I'm just not sure what will be affected if I change it at this stage.

Thanks Lynn - I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that
Another problem came up - our assistant closed a work order in error - it is not finished and will need to be reflected in Finished Goods. How do I fix that?

You can change the status code in WO-A back to R for released.

Ok, you folks have been so helpful, one more question please.
When I change the status to released, how do I get those items back into WIP that closed to WO Variance when it was closed?

The "items" do not go to WO Var, the COSTS do. If you want, do a GJ to move the costs back to the WIP account.

Actually, using WO-H to put the costs back in is better. That will not only update the GL but also the Work order costs. Post the transaction to the WIP Variance account to reverse the original posting.
