changing employee # & department
02/02/05 at 07:03:14

Is there a way of changing employee number sort of like the ability to change part numbers?  I have an employee moving from hourly to salary and changing departments.  I would like to have him in the same series as the other employees within that department.  There are already pay records for this year.

This from my (personally customized) help page:

===================================
Go to System Mgr, TAS-D (Maintain Database).

Select BKPRMSTR.BVH
From the box that pops up, click the double-arrow to show all fields
At the top of the screen is a check-box that says "Allow editing". Put a check-mark in it.
The far left column has the employee numbers. Find the one(s) you want.
Select the box with the number and press <Enter>
Then change to the new number and press <Up> or <Down> arrow key.
It will ask you if you want to save the current record. (Yes).

Then we go to UT-K-B (Global field replace)

File Name is BKPRHIST
Scroll to and select BKPR.CURP.EMPNM as the Field Name
In "Enter value to replace" put the OLD employee number
In "Replace with value" put the NEW employee number
When it's done it will tell you how many it changed.
====================================

You probably shoudl try it in your SandBox company before doing it for real.....

This will work for payroll but not Labor records for Work Orders.  If you want to change them too, you need to run the UT-K-B on WOLABOR and, if you use Data Collection, BKDCLAB.

I don't care so much about labor records unless I will lose the information because the employee number no longer exists.  How is all that handled in JC etc?

Just in case anybody else is interested, when an employee is removed from the Employee master file (same one is used for JC Labor and Payroll), The JC Labor reports will print the workds "Terminated Employee" where the name would go.

I tried this in DBA.   I left array element number blank.   I  don't think this did anything because I got the message "  total number of records changed = zero "  Maybe it only works in EVO now?

DUH LAURA

 DBA showed NO records because we have never used the payroll module.   I bet I don't have to run UT-K-B if i do not use the payroll module?   Is that correct?

In EVO UT-K-B is called "find and replace"  And the choices have very different names from the 2005 instructions.  Does anyone have instructions for how to make changes in UT-K-B in EVO?

Thanks,
Laura
