I have never used DBA/EVO for payroll. I did my payroll manually and filed all payroll reports manually from 1980 until 1997. I used Advantage payroll from 1997 to 2009. I have used Intuit IOP payroll since 2010 and I absolutely love it. I highly recommend intuit online payroll. It costs about $100 per month for 25 employees. I can do payroll in 15 minutes a week. The monthly and quarterly and annually files take me less than a minute. All the many online reports are amazing. I enter payroll expense on DBA this way. AP-B Voiucher 1: gross gets distributed between our 5 departments. AP-B Voucher 2: Employer Taxes gets distributed between our 5 dept. AP-B Voucher 3 (credit voucher) get distributed between BCBS, dental, 401k, child support etc etd) Then I go pick an pay the amounts as they will clear my checking account.
