pricing question

WE are starting to use the pricing module.  I was wondering what the retail price field in the customer contract price file is for.  It doesn't seem to be necessary, is it for comparison only?  Should it be the base price?

We use those for special pricing for that Cust only. It also has an expiration date. Base pricing is the retail and price codes are used for different discount levels.

Retail Price is a reference.  If you sell to resellers, your base price may be the highest price you actually sell to a reseller and the Retail is a suggested proce for them to sell to end customers.
