DBA administrator duties
01/05/06 at 06:12:26

We have been running DBA for over 2 years.   I would like to keep the system healthy by "cleanup" of some files by archiving and/or purging.  In addition, I need to know both how and when to reindex files.   Does anyone have some documentation from either DBA, Pervasive, IsTechSupport or a in-house written procedure  to describe a recommended approach to keeping a system properly maintained?  I realize that some of this depends on size of company and transaction volume.  A general outline would certainly be a great starting point.

I would like something like this as well.  We've got 3-1/2 years under our belt and I have only purged 2002 (since it was a partial year... with lots of errors).

Count me in too. We have been using DBA for over 10 years. With an average 200 sales orders a week and almost as many inventory items, I think we could use a little dusting and cleaning too.

This will be a topic of discussion in Phoenix and there will be information posted on the web site after the forum for those of you unlucky enough to miss the fun in the sunny southwest.

Is there anything posted yet on this.  Also how often do you expect to have training sessions?

Was a suggested procedure ever posted on this subject?  If so, where?

Not that I am aware of.  It is very possible that every installation has some quirks or special considerations, but it seems it wouldn't be very hard to come up with a list of "You really should do this every x weeks" and " It would be nice if you do this every x weeks" list.

The help file has a document named "Important Times" that should be a good start. The non-Accounting section helped me to develop my weekly, monthly, quarterly routines that I run here.
