Evo will not run or install
10/25/06 at 14:55:46

On some of our newest (most up-to-date) computers Evo will not install or run. I can still run and install the old DBA but not Evo. I think this my be due to the most recent MS Windows update. I am going to try and uninstall the lastest MS Windows update to correct the problem but was just wondering if anyone else was having this problem.

Thanks.

Do you get any error messages when you try?

Error messages depend on if its your first try or some other try. Here are some of the error messages I get most often and if it gives me a new one I'll post it.

Error 1)
You have tried to access a file that has not been previously opened or the file number value (FNUM) passed was 0.
You click OK and the message goes away and a box that says "Create Workstation Setup" comes up.
The box says:
Server Path: K:\ where K:\ is our server.
Copying - and there is a text field next to the word copying where you can enter something.
Then you click "Continue" and the box is grayed out and nothing happens.

Error 2)
Access violation at address 00405880 in module 'evoerp.exe'. Read of address 0000003E.
You click OK and the message goes away.
You try running setup again and you get the error message that says:

You already have an instance of TAS Pro 7 Runtime for this path.
You click OK and the message goes away.

I restart my computer at this point and the error messages start over.

This new install in on a new computer running Windows XP Pro and has all the lastest updates for windows. DBA and Pervasive.SQL V8 installed fine as well as every other program I have installed.

Also, I have a laptop (Windows XP Pro) that was running Evo just fine, the other day it asked to install new windows updates and know Evo will no run but DBA still runs. I don't know what the error messages are if any for the laptop because it is another employee's but I am going to look at it today and will post any error messages when I get them.

Any help on this would be great. Thanks.

The laptop that was having problems started working again this morning. I'm not sure why it wasn't working or how it started working again but it did. Still having problems with the new desktop install though. Any thoughts?

Did you run the Pervasive tests and make sure they completed successfully?  Check the local PVSW.log file to see if it's logging anything.  Also try adding an entry in the hosts file on the machine to the server where EvoERP is running.

I've patched a few systems already with all the latest M$ updates and they have been fine running EvoERP (XP SP2 and also Windows 2000).

Yes, I have ran the Pervasive test and they did complete successfully.

Yes, the PVSW.log file is logging but I'm not sure what to look for in the log. A copy of the log is below.

Also try adding an entry in the hosts file on the machine to the server where EvoERP is running.
Could you please expand on this suggestion. I don't understand exactly what you are saying.

Also tried uninstalling the lastest MS Windows updates, it didn't help so I'm going to say that's not the problem.

Thanks.
