JC-R Materials Total Incorrectly Includes Labor
11/15/06 at 09:26:37

When I print a JC-R report for a range of work orders (i.e. 2501-1 thru 2504-999) the Material amount showing includes more than just the total for the R and M type parts for the WO's.  I think it includes costs for the labor and overhead as well.

I haven't run this report very many times in the past, but I am sure that previously it gave me only the material costs (R and M types) for the production run.

Is this happening for anyone else?

What I am wanting to get is the raw material costs, no labor or overhead, for a job.  This is the correct report isn't it?

I modified the subject line and restated my question in the original posting.  I hope I have sufficiently clarified my original posting.

Anyone with input?

The problem with the report has been confirmed and fixed.

per the help file:

JC-R Print Multi-Level Job Cost

Purpose of Program

Use this report to get a Job Costs broken down by Labor, Material, Overhead, Outside Processing and Extra for a group of work orders representing multiple levels of assembly resulting in a final top level item.

if all you want, is just material issues, then use JC-E or JC-M

JEMM and dameng:  Thanks for the input, please read on.

JEMM - I am using the 10-25-06 - BKJCR.RUN file. The items' lower level labor, overhead and material costs are still rolling up into the current level's materials only.   Is there another file I should be using?

dameng-  From the JC-R help file:
"The Material column of the report will contain ONLY transactions issuing either type R or M items to the work orders because type A OR F items include labor and overhead costs in their unit cost causin the Material column of all the work orders associated with a multi-level assembly to be overstated. "

I am looking for only the purchased parts materials total for all items purchased for a job (less any in-house labor and overhead).  We also use the ISWOPO program extensively and the JOBRC items received directly from the PO to the WO need to have their costs showing correctly.  JC-E doesn't pick up those JOBRC costs into this report.

It's nice to hear there is another company that is looking for pure material job costs. Our President has been looking for this information since we adopted DBA in year 1999.

Currently, the only means to achieve this info is manually tracking the material for eash subassembly (as we don't want labor and load included either in material costs as subassys are issued to main assemblies) and as we also found JC-R does not give the true material cost, but is a step in the right direction.

Keep up the good work refining JC-R as there are users needing this info.

The JCR report was fixed yesterday to only the material costs for type R and M components.

JEMM - Thanks for addressing this matter. Where do I get this new JC-R program?  Can I just add it to the 8-11 update we are using now?

JEMM or Lynn - Just checking in to see where I get the latest JC-R program and if it can be added to the 8-11 update without updating to the latest Evo update.

(I like to wait a while to implement updates until things settle down a little.)

After another tweak, the new JC-R program is working well.  Thanks!
