RO-B copied inventory item description problem
01/17/07 at 14:31:21

We created a series of part numbers by copying a series of existing part numbers using IN-L-N.  Then we edited the descriptions in IN-B for all the new part numbers. Now we are rolling up the BOMs and the rountings.  The BOMs roll up properly.  However when we go to roll up the routings in RO-B, the old description shows up on the report.  If we go into RO-A and save each sequence in the routing, the description changes to the new description in the roll-up.  If we don't "touch" each sequence, then the 2nd page of the roll-up has the wrong description.

It's a small bug.  It's an annoyance though because we are doing more jobs using the plan where we copy a list of item numbers.

No comment on the problem, but I can't believe I didn't know about this program! I usually copy the item in IN-B, then go and create new BOMs and Routings....   Tongue

We have a similar problem.  We have a part number that displays the wrong description when viewed in WOs.
The description is always correct in ITEMS module  but not in the MFG module.
So we see the correct item description in IN-B and BM-B but not in Work Orders.  ?

After reading this old thread I wonder if it is because maybe we copied a part number

This causes our travelers to have an incorrect description.
Thanks
Laura

Keep in mind that when a WO is created it literally takes a snap shot of the BOM and routing at that moment. So if the description on a part was changed after the WO was created then yes you would see the new description in IN-B and BM-A  but you would not see that change on the WO. Only work orders which were created after the Description had been changed for that part would reflect the new change. You could use WO-K-J to Sync the BOM & Routing to the WO. This program synchronizes work Order BOM and Routing to the inventory master BOM & Routing so those changes you made would then be reflected on the WO.
