Classic Installation

Hi folks!

I have a customer that I setup DBA 2004.1 for a couple of years ago. It's been installed and running just fine on a 2003 server using the Pervasive 2000i installed on the CD.

Here's the problem:

The customer decided to go and play around with the server and totally screwed up Pervasive. It's been so long since I installed DBA and pervasive that I can't remember what I need to do to re-install it all.

The cusomer didn't have any documentation and could only find the DBA 2004.1 CD and a diskette labeled "Registration Diskette". I looks like DBA no longer has any installation guides for the "classic" version on their site and they want to charge me just to look in their knowledgebase! I have searched this forum and haven't found any installation guides, so.......

Can someone walk me through the installation process?

Do I have all the software CDs/Diskettes required for the installation? Am I missing a Pervasive license CD?

Do I have to apply and patches to this version on DBA or Pervasive?

On the bright side you'll be gaining another support customer as this customer has been playing around with the "new" version of DBA and HATES it. She actually bought the NG version but continues to use the classic version. She was worried that if she didn't switch that she wouldn't have any support. Boy is she going to in for a surprise when I tell her about IS Tech!  Grin

Thanks for the help!

Mike

The Pervasive install is in a folder named WINNT on the CD.  If you reinstall on top of what is there, you may not even need the Pervasive license file.  If you have to uninstall & reinstall, then you will need a file named UCMGR.KEY which is the Pervasive User Count file they were originally provided.

DBA itself should not need to be touched if all they messed with was Pervasive on the server.

All that said, Pervasive 2000i and WIN 2003 Server is not a SUPPORTED configuration by Pervasive and I have seen cases that woprked fine for a while until some Microsift update was installed to the server and the Pervasive just quit working, which ultimately necessitates updating to PSQL 9. 5 (current supported version).  So that may be what happened, as opposed to them "messing around with the server".  Should that be necessary, IS Tech is a Pervasive reseller and can provide upgrade pricing.
