File open Error (Installing on a new machine)
01/28/08 at 06:05:39

Can anyone help with the error below as far as a fix is concerned? I've never had this much trouble setting up a new machine. I did a network test and it says that there is communication between the server and the client? ANyone who may have experience using Pervasive that could help would be great.

File open Error
Error number 3014
Unidentified file error
File name: BKSYMSTR
Program Name:
P:\EVOERPMENU.RWN
EXE path: C:\ISTS\
THIS PROGRAM WILL NOW
END

Thanks,

Patty

Just for reference, I'm almost always the person that answers these questions but to some extent people could do this themselves. Go to

Start -> Programs -> Pervasive -> Pervasive.SQL -> Documentation -> Pervasive.SQL 9 (or whatever version you have)

That will bring up the help file for pervasive. Then click the index tab and scroll down until you find your error code. The documentation is fairly good at explaining the errors.

Or, have me look it up for you:

3014 means that it can't find a PervasiveSQL engine. Are you using workgroup or client server? My guess is that a firewall is blocking access to the Pervasive server but I'd need more info on your configuration to really have any more educated of a guess.
